The Cabin of Passing
The Cottage of Passing is a cozy journey of remembrance and connection, where the living and the departed can visit the home of the Threshold Guardian, and share stories, craft memories, and find solace in an in-between sanctuary.
Who is the Threshold Guardian?
The Threshold Guardian was once a mortal, deeply connected to both the living and the departed. They were a healer and storyteller, known for their ability to comfort those at the end of their lives. After their own passing, they were chosen to take on the role of guiding souls in their transition due to their compassion and deep understanding of the human journey.
Over centuries, the Guardian has gathered knowledge, stories, and objects from those who have passed, filling the cozy cottage with a rich tapestry of lives lived. Their mission is not to rush souls toward the afterlife but to offer them a space for reflection, understanding, and closure before they move on.
This story will be found and represented throughout the cabin for exploration
Project Details
This MFA student project focused on designing an indoor expereince.
Many Facades will be used to create the effect of:
- A floating Island
- The Cabin being bigger on the inside
- “Flying” Vehicle
Digital Screen will be used inside the vehicle to give guests a deeper sense of “flying.”
